Synopsis:

Barley Blair (Sean Connery) is a British publisher with an uncomplicated life. A chance encounter with a brilliant Soviet scientist is about to change that. He attempts to smuggle a manuscript to Blair, which, if published, could dramatically influence the balance of world power. The courier is a beautiful Soviet mother called Katya (Michelle Pfeiffer) who puts herself and her children at risk by adopting this role; for despite the new freedoms her country now enjoys, there are those who seek to maintain the old order. Blair finds himself inextricably drawn into a world of intrigue, risk and danger, a world where love is the most dangerous risk of all.
