Synopsis:

This re-make of the successful Brazilian comedy Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (1976) stars Sally Field as Kay Villano, lonely and still pining for her dead husband. Her dead husband, Jolly (James Caan), although selfish and a womanizer, was not without his charms. After some personal agony over staying true to the memory of her late husband, Kay finds herself falling in love with Rupert Baines (Jeff Bridges), a stuffy professor of Egyptology. As her wedding day approaches, Kay is surprised to come face to face with Jolly’s ghost, who is shocked that Kay is marrying someone so dull and stuffy. Kay goes ahead with the marriage and Jolly, refusing to let Kay forget him, decides to hang around. This odd duo forces Kay to come to terms with her feelings about the men in her life.
