KIND HEARTS AND CORONETS
Ealing comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets follows Louis Mazzini (Dennis Price) who, while ninth in line to inherit the dukedom from the aristocratic D'Ascoyne family, hatches a murderous scheme to kill all eight people who stand between him and the duke's title. Louis works through the list, eliminating rivals (all played by Alec Guinness) while romancing Isabella, a childhood friend who ends up marrying a dullard, and Edith, the beautiful widow of one of his victims. But as he prepares to assume the dukedom, irony strikes...This BAFTA-nominated black comedy set in Edwardian Britain is loosely based on Roy Harriman’s 1907 novel Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal.
