Synopsis:

Tom Cruise stars in this comedy-drama as a cocky young man with big dreams and limitless ambition who heads to the Big Apple to make his fortune. To his dismay, Cruise finds his lack of a college degree as serious obstacle in his quest for Big Bucks. Landing a job as a bartender, Cruise's luck changes when a seasoned pro (Bryan Brown) shows him the ropes and transforms him into the hottest ticket on the Upper East Side. Joining forces, the two men plot to earn, win or marry into money and buy their own posh bar. But when Cruise falls for a high-spirited young artist (Elisabeth Shue), he's forced to rethink his concept of success and happiness in this perceptive tale of contemporary values and love.
