Synopsis:

Could you stand by and watch your son starve himself to death for his beliefs? Or would you go against his wishes and save his life. In 1981, twenty-one Irish mothers faced that dilemma when their sons went on hunger strike to get the British Government to recognise them as political prisoners rather than as common criminals. Some Mother's Son tells the story of Kathleen Quigley and Annie Higgins, ordinary Irish women from different backgrounds, forced to the centre of an epic struggle between British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher and IRA prisoners led by Bobby Sands.
